Communities outside Chicago are mourning the loss of two young men who died in separate incidents on Sunday, January 11, authorities and family friends said.
The first victim was identified as Randy Curtis, 26, who died after being shot early Sunday morning in the 1700 block of West Albion Avenue, according to Chicago police. The shooting occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. Police said Curtis was outside when he was shot in the throat.
Curtis was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. Investigators reported that the shooter fled the scene, and it was not immediately known how many individuals were involved. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Curtis, known to friends and family as “Rilla,” is remembered by loved ones as a young man deeply cherished by his family. He is survived by his mother, Lavonne, and his grandmother, Yvonne Curtis Lindsey.
Later Sunday afternoon, a second person was found dead in a separate incident. The individual was identified by friends as “Lil Mike” from the Crank Town area. Authorities have not yet released official details surrounding his death, and it is unclear whether the two cases are connected.
Police have not provided further information as investigations into both deaths continue. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Chicago police as the community seeks answers and healing following the losses.
