Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning along Interstate 77, leaving one man dead and two others seriously injured.
According to police, officers were dispatched shortly after midnight following a report of an assault involving a weapon in the Vail Road area. While en route, officers learned that one individual suffering from critical injuries had been transported by private vehicle to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving medical efforts, that individual later died.
Authorities have identified the victim as Trevohn Maleek Marshall, 20.
Police confirmed that two additional individuals connected to the same incident were taken to a separate medical facility for treatment. Both victims were reported to be in serious condition, and no further updates on their medical status have been released.
Investigators determined that the shooting occurred on Interstate 77 near the Remount Road area. Law enforcement secured the scene and began collecting evidence shortly after the report, temporarily impacting portions of the roadway as officers worked to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
